What is Blood Bowl?
Blood bowl was a fantasy football game by Games Workshop, designed by Jervis Johnson back in 1987. It is a mixture of Fantasy battle, American football and chess.
Each player collects and paints the team of his/her choosing. Whether it be humans, elves, orcs or dwarfs to name but a few of the many and varied races.
The boxed version of the game is a great start for any new manager into the sport, with a team of human, a team of orc, rule book, pitch, dice, counters it gives you everything you need.
The rules are easy to learn and after just a couple of games it takes a little over an hour to play a full game of 16 turns each....a couple of touch downs and soon your team will be earning more money, more points, more touchdowns and you'll be hooked!
Thinking of running your own bloodbowl leauge?
Here at Weobley Bookshop we are currently running the Hellford Blood Bowl League (otherwise known as the HBBL) with eight teams taking part. See our table below and follow our progress. The same teams will soon be taking part during the season in the Scum Valley Cup, a straight up knock out tournament.
Over the coming weeks we'll be profiling out own personal touches on the teams...if you have the imagination this could be as fun as any roleplaying game!
